Easy Love.

Image
Hey,  (Before I get into this I'm aware that I could totally give away the people I'm talking about and if by chance you're reading, I'm sorry? I think.)  I have loved so many people in my lifetime, not always IN love but love nonetheless and I reminisce about each time and think about how fucking easy it would have been to have just given in, so why didn't I?.  First of all, two of the four? (ish) people I have felt this way about have been friends of mine, like damn fucking good friends so when those feeling wrapped their way around my heart and twisted their way into my stomach I fucking freaked out.  Big time, the major reason being that I didn't want to ruin our friendship (but I honestly just think I used that excuse as a shield) the second reason being that these people knew everything about me, they were my soulmates, both in  different ways.  One made me feel, fearless..utterly fucking fearless like when we were together nothing could/w...

Wednesday's Homicidal Maniac.

Image
Hey Cuties,  Today I wanted to start my Halloween makeup looks and who better to kick it off than the deadpan spoopy beauty herself, Wednesday Addams.  I hold this little weirdo close to my heart and whilst most little girls wanted to be princesses (I dont blame them tbh) I wanted to be Wednesday so bad, so every single time Halloween rolls around, my mind automatically goes to her, however she is super popular this time of year so I rarely get a chance to fulfill my dream without about 50 other Wednesdays around as well but fuck it, this year I'm doing it.  I'm going to give a speedy little run down on how I created the look, so first I started with a VERY pale base foundation (not white!) but very pale then highlighted with a white greasepaint and contoured with a light brown mixed with a bruisey shade of purple. After all was blended, I powdered (A LOT) with white translucent loose powder and filled in my brows as sharp and as dark as possible with a b...

The Spoopy Season.

Image
Hey lil' pumpkins! (I'll work on that).  October is here which basically means that every day is Halloween and I can start putting out some super creepy makeup looks which is what I LIVE for.  But before I throw myself head first into the only festive season I enjoy, I wanted to give you a tiny little run down of a big thing that happened in my life recently. On Friday 29th September I finally graduated from university with a 2:1 Upper Class BA (Honours) Degree in Specialist Hair and Media Makeup which means that four years of going to the same place at least four times a week, seeing my best friends and being in a safe and comfortable environment is over.  I think not being able to see my best friend everyday (or even for weeks at a time) is going to be super hard and I already miss her (I only left her on Saturday!..speaking of which I am resigning from alcohol forever, ughbleh). Okay with all of the sad gushy stuff out of the way I want to share with you some ...

Advice for uni students

Image
Hey little college fledglings,  (I'm not sure how that works outside of the UK)  As my graduation is fast approaching and the new wave of fresh faced freshers will be descending on to campuses all over the world I decided to give you a little bit of advice about what to expect and some tips that I definitely did not listen to but ones that would have helped me through uni.  1) Put aside a small amount of your student loan each term (around 5% depending on how much you are getting) for emergencies, I know all you want to do is buy the bare essentials and blow the rest on alcohol and late night pizza, but trust me there is always a unknown cost around the bend, being in a creative field there weren't many 'book' expenses in my uni years but sometimes you just cant find that one tiny (really bloody expensive) book in the library and your deadlines will not wait for you, then if you make it through that term and you haven't needed the fall back money you can...

OOTD: Girls Unite

Image
Hey pals,  It's 9:30pm and i'm fucked so lets do an outfit post yas?  The other day I threw together an outfit and I LOVED IT so i'm going to tell you about it and where I got the lil bits from (also I dont have a proper camera and these are awful outfit shots but i'm a poor post-grad oh well).  I'm not going to lie I felt so bad ass in this outfit even though I've had some of these pieces for a while now.  Top: H&M (they sell stuff like this ALL the time)  Trousers: New Look (about three years ago but trousers are back in now so you wont have trouble finding some similar) Belt: Boohoo (or literally any online clothes store)  Sunglasses: Primark (this summer)  I then just wacked on a pair of all black boots I bought from Primark and a red lippy ('Alexa' from the 'B' brand in superdrug) and I felt invincible.  Right then, my eyes are about to fall out of my head so I'm off to sleep.  See you , H  ...

Mens fashion trends I love.

Image
Hey, I'm easing myself back into proper scheduled blogging (hopefully) and recently I have been really into mens fashion.  So, today I'm going to talk about some of my favourite trends that I have seen guys killing lately (Disclaimer: I know approximately nothing about fashion, this is just my opinion and also these trends aren't specific to males they can be rocked by anyone, good okay lets go). 1. Rings.  Guys wearing rings has been a love of mine since I was about 15, ever since the (then) love of my life Aaron Johnson donned one for 'Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging'.  I think rings can add so much to any outfit, they look so beautiful and they can be so different, I really like a mix of chunky rings, smaller rings also a mixture of more detailed rings and simpler rings that helps show personal styles. I would like to thank Matty Healy for proving my point. Turns out black nails looks great with rings too (although not necessary)  Ch...

An insight into my brain.

Image
Hey, lets talk.  As someone who has never seen a professional for help about anything in my life (medical situations send me down the worst panic spirals) I can't be for sure when diagnosing myself with anything because if anything, self diagnosis can be super dangerous and can (in some situations) take away from the people who most definitely have the thing that you think you have (did that come out right? confused? me too.).   What I do know is that I suffer with rather horrific anxiety, equally horrifying (but more sporadic) panic attacks and what I call 'cloudy days' which is periods of time where i'm just numb (I think i'm too terrified to say depressed), although it seems as if everyone and their grandmother suffers with the same thing I think it's because we now live in a safe(ish) enough world to openly talk about it.  I wasn't always this way, I do know people who have suffered since childhood, I myself was always a nervous and shy c...

I took a break... I'm back.

Image
Hey,  It's been a while, how are you? Good, yeah me too. Been up to much? Ah cool, me? Well, since you asked... I have just completed my entire 4 years of education at university.  I finished uni. I totally did it and regardless of my results I know I fucking worked my ass off and i'm so stoked for myself (patting myself on the back tbh).  Firstly, I smashed my last two essays for Art of Film and Cultural and Historical Studies, they were actually quite fun to write, if anyone's looking for a director (or auteur) to write about in an essay, Wes Anderson is the most interesting man and makes the most detailed films I have written about so far (makes for easy writing).  My FMP was a whole year in the making (not including Christmas break last year in which I did sweet FA). I love the outcome, I of course have my doubts and I constantly think I could do better, but that's what life should be like right? challenging yourself, pushing yourself to better yo...

Writers block.

Image
Hey Guys,  I'm mid writing two pretty big, final essays for university and I have major writers block I keep typing crappy words and then deleting them just to write them again seconds later.  So I went to twitter for my procrastination fix and found a fun thing to do here for my blog and I'm hoping it'll get me into the writing mood.  Right, the rules of this game/(tag if you wanna do it too): All you have to do is look through your phone and find photos that represent your aesthetic, so mine would be... The images you choose need to be already on your phone (NO GOOGLING!) give it a try and see what you end up with!  Back to my 3000 word essay! See you on the other side, H  xxx

Grateful

Image
Hey,  My blogger pal (and IRL bestie) Amy  just uploaded a post saying some things that she's grateful for and I thought it was real cute so I'm stealing the idea.  Here's a few things I am grateful for My family, who help me through everything and support all my decisions no matter how haphazard they are.  My glorious friends, who I would not survive without, they make me laugh and keep me feeling safe.  Sleeping in late and hearing my mum cleaning around downstairs with music on.  Aesthetically pleasing design and fashion, my room is my favourite thing to design.  Sunsets, particularly pink/red ones.  Warm weather  Good hair/ skin days.  When people are nice for no reason.  Smooth legs / fresh bedding combo  Lazy days, where all I do is drink tea, watch movies and read books.  Deep conversations with people I care about, just knowing that they 'get' you. Those are just a few things that I am gratefu...

30 songs challenge

Image
Hi, I have had the busiest day ever and I'm seriously exhausted and my brain can't think of what to write so I've decided to do the '30 day song challenge' but instead I am making it the '30 songs challenge' and I will answer all of these in one go.  I think it's really cool to see a sneak peak into other peoples music tastes so if you want to do this yourself please leave a link or smth below so I can mooch into your music taste too.  I also think that music is pretty much one of the MOST important things in life so without further rambles, lets go! ... A song you like with a colour in the title: White Lies - Stereophonics A song you like with a number in the title: 26 - Catfish and the Bottlemen A song that reminds you of summer: Summertime - The Sundays A song that reminds you of someone you'd rather forget: Incubus - Drive A song that needs to be played LOUD: Mr. Brightside - The Killers A song that makes you want to dance: Norgaa...

Top Netflix Picks

Image
Hey cuties,  I spend about 70% of my time scouring Netflix trying to find ANYTHING I haven't already watched and I always find it interesting going through other blogs where people list their favourite shows. So that's what I'm doing today.  Now, your taste in films/shows may be a hell lot different from mine so you might disagree or you might totally love them too! First up, TV shows.. Gilmore Girls - I thought I'd get this out of the way as everyone knows how much I love this show, it's homely, cosy and so wholesome, It's perfect for settling down with a cuppa and a blanket.  13 reasons why - This is a new show that was added super recently but oh my god it's brilliant, it tells of a teen girl who commits suicide but leaves behind 13 tapes for the people who ultimately caused her death. Super interesting and it's almost has a perks of being a wallflower edge to it (mixed with a mystery obv). Gossip Girl  - Probably the best show ever made ...

Relaxed Day in the Life.

Image
Hey Loves,  This is going to be a little relaxed day in the life, I've never really done one of these before because I'm pretty sure my life is far too boring but chilled days are my speciality.  Lie in until at least 9:30am. - I will always wake up at around 8 then doze for another hour or so then check social media until around 10ish. bliss!  Get up but first put on cosy socks and a fluffy jacket/sweater (Brush teeth etc) -This is great because the UK is just constantly cold in the mornings regardless of the season. Put on a show that makes you feel warm and fuzzy - Mine is Gilmore Girls. Always. Indulge with breakfast - Eat whatever you want, bacon sandwich? Avocado on toast? go for it.  Tea. Just Tea. lots of it (strong sugary tea is best). Do one productive thing - It'll make you feel good even if its just organizing your room or half and hours relaxed work. Listen to your favourite songs- Whilst tidying/working.  Talk to a friend - Ask how...
