5 movies you should see

Hello again lovely internet people,

Well, a year off and a blog renovation later, I'm back and re-branded with a swish new name and layout.
This year, alongside the regular life updates and fashion posts, I will be adding snippets of my work from my Special Effects course, as I am currently in the second semester of my second year at uni and thought it would be fun to document a few of my skills for future me to look back on.

Anyway, as I am easing myself back into blogging I thought I would start with a fun post to write (for me anyway) because I am a massive film nerd and if you're looking for a new film to watch I hope this can help you out, so without further babbling and in no particular order here is...

5 Movies you need to see.

1. Submarine (2010)

This is probably one of my favourites, it is directed by Richard Ayoade (The IT crowd) and its the 'coming of age' story of a boy called Oliver Tate (played by Craig Roberts) and his relationships with the people around him, such as his parents and a girl called Jordana Bevan (played by Yasmin Paige).
The soundtrack to the film is one of the best things about it, along with the genius one liners from Oliver ('Her new boyfriend has an incredibly long neck. Just thinking about giraffes makes me angry.') the soundtrack includes six original songs written and performed by none other than Alex Turner which just adds to the film melancholy feel.

2. Nowhere Boy

Whenever people ask for film recommendations I will always point them in the direction of this film, its based on the early life of John Lennon and even if you aren't a massive Beatles fan, the story itself will make you laugh, cry and if you are so inclined, fall in love with John (played by the gorgeous Aaron (Taylor) Johnson, who plays Lennon perfectly without looking like John at all).
The film is directed by Sam Taylor Johnson (who was Sam Taylor at the time) and i think she created an all round great film that I will always always come back to.

3. Crazy, Stupid, Love

If you're looking for a light hearted romantic comedy that will have you laughing every two minutes, look no further.
Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling make the oddly perfect comedic pair, with Ryan's straightforward- to the point- dialogue (I quote this on a DAILY basis. literally) along with Steve's usual hilarious delivery is wonderful and the film as a whole (starring gems like Emma Stone and Julianne Moore) will swiftly become one of your favourites too.

4. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Heartbreakingly real and so charmingly funny. If there was to be an award for the most perfect teen film this would win hands down, Charlie (Logan Lerman) himself is such a perfectly imperfect character that you can't help but fall in love with him and want to take care of him, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller are incredible. just incredible.
Together they create the best moments within the film, the most silly and joyous moments that you'll wish you were a part of.
If you haven't already, give it a watch you won't be disappointed (I wasn't).

5. About Time

If you want warm fuzzy feelings this film provides in bucket loads.
Domnhall Gleeson plays 21 year old Tim an endearing and adorably sweet man who finds out he has the ability to time travel.
He makes it his mission to use his time travelling skills to find a girlfriend, enter Mary (Played beautifully by Rachel McAdams).
The whole film is lovely, sometimes sad, but afterwards I was left not feeling sad but warm, happy and inspired.

*Bonus Film*
Ex-Machina

If you're not really into romance this is one for you, again Domnhall Gleeson stars this time along side Oscar Isaac, its classed as a psychological thriller...that it is.
Its weird but super interesting and keeps you enthralled the entire movie.
Fans of artificial intelligence movie should definitely watch this film.

Thanks for reading
