Theatrical Make-Up and Special Effects College
Hello again,
After months and months of not writing anything, I finally have a spare couple of hours to make a post I've been wanting to make for a while.
I am currently studying 'Theatrical Make-Up and Special Effects' at a university college and would like to share some of my work and write a bit about what I have been doing.
This first post will be about the 'Special Effects' side of my course as there is too much to say just in one post.
'Cuts & Grazes'
This was one of the first things I learnt upon starting this course.
we were taught how to create realistic looking wounds with latex and a product called
'Derma-Wax', here are the results I got.
I think they're quite realistic and I was proud of the outcome achieved with both products.
The 'Grazes' are made predominately with Latex and 'Grimas' greasepaints, the 'slit wrist' is created with a product called 'Collodion' which, as it dries, indents the skin and finally the deeper cut is created with the 'Derma-Wax'. They are all finished off with hefty lashings of fake blood, of course.
'Casualty'
The next part is the 'casualty' assignment that we did, we had to create a casualty situation such as a crash crash, workplace incident or other accidents.
I chose to do a minor car accident as I felt I could make it more believable.
Here are the photos for the assignment.
I used the same products a techniques that I used to create the cuts and grazes but I did it on a bigger scale, I made the incident as realistic as possible and I was super pleased with the way it looked on my beautiful model and friend Amy :).
Well, I'm glad I got to write about what I do at my university college and I hope you enjoyed that little insight to my daily life!
Much Love!
